Ideally located to explore the stunning coastline of North Devon, The Darnley Hotel sits between the magnificent beaches of Woolacombe, Saunton and Croyde and the wild moorland of Exmoor.
The Hotel is on the Ilfracombe section of the Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route (NCN27) and is only a short distance from the South West Coast Path, ideal for both Walkers and Cyclists. We have secure storage for bicycles and drying facilities for walkers and cyclists.
North Devon caters for all types of holidaymaker from the athletic to the laid back. Ilfracombe has a selection of fine restaurants, as well as the amazingly designed Landmark Theatre.
Further afield a boat trip will take you to the peace and tranquility of Lundy Island, or you can follow the Tarka Trail, a 180 mile dedicated walk and cycle route winding through the picturesque North Devon countryside.
The town has an ancient harbour where fishing vessels share anchorage with pleasure craft and an array of shops, cafes and bars, giving the harbour an almost continental atmosphere.
Ilfracombe is also a base for many varied festivals. The town has a growing reputation for its floral displays and has been the proud winner of many coveted awards in the “Britain in Bloom” Competition. Each year the streets are awash with colour from June to October with baskets, tubs and planters everywhere.
